i remember attending a book fair a few years ago where someone presented Lost Highway through the idea of the möbius strip—a surface with no true beginning or end. ever since then, i haven't been able to watch it any other way. the film folds back into itself, constantly erasing the line between cause and consequence, dream and memory, guilt and desire. Lynch doesn't ask you to solve the mystery; he asks you to surrender to it. every rewatch feels less like finding answers and more like noticing another crack in the illusion. identities dissolve, time loops in on itself, and reality bends under the weight of a mind unwilling to confront its own violence. by the time those final headlights cut through the darkness, you're right back where you started—but somehow you're not the same person who began the journey
