Café de Flore

Jean-Marc Vallée20112hRomance, Drama

Why we chose it

Jean-Marc Vallée, director of the Oscar-winning “Dallas Buyers Club”, moves between 1960s Paris and present-day Montreal in a moody mosaic of love in all its guises, with Vanessa Paradis at its heart. Do soulmates exist, and if they do, how many can one person have?

Synopsis

In 1960s Paris, Jacqueline is raising her son Laurent, who has Down syndrome, on her own, and has sworn that nobody but her will ever look after him. In present-day Montreal, Antoine, a top-flight DJ, has left his wife Carole for Rose but can’t shake the feeling that something has gone wrong. Four decades separate their stories, and what binds them is love.
