Lyna Khoudri reunites with Mounia Meddour to play a woman who lives through a terrible night, though neither director nor actress will let her become a victim. Houria, whose name is Arabic for freedom, can no longer speak, so she tells her story with her body, through gesture, dance and a look.
Houria is a gifted ballet dancer in Algiers who cleans by day to get by and bets on illegal ram fights at night. One night she is attacked and ends up in hospital, and the body she has built her whole life on stops obeying her. In rehab she meets other women, each with a wound of her own, and as they keep meeting they find support in one another.
