Every night a man and a woman dream they are a stag and a doe in a snowy forest, yet by day, at the slaughterhouse where they both work, they can barely speak to each other. With this delicate, half-asleep love story, her first film in eighteen years, Ildikó Enyedi won the Golden Bear in Berlin.
Endre is the finance director at a slaughterhouse and Mária is its quality inspector, and neither of them finds it easy to let anyone close. When they discover that every night they have exactly the same dream, walking side by side through a snowy forest as a stag and a doe, the two of them, shy and distrustful, decide to find out whether what happens in their sleep can be lived while they’re awake.
