Why we chose it
Oscar-nominated Jacques Audiard directs Marion Cotillard and Matthias Schoenaerts in one of the most uncompromising films about closeness, strength and how much we need another person. It’s brutal, and yet surprisingly tender.
Synopsis
With no money and no friends, a man turns up at his sister’s place in Antibes with his young son and takes a job as a bouncer at a local club. After one fight he meets a confident, captivating orca trainer, and while he has nothing, she is beautiful and full of life, until tragedy strikes during one of her shows. When they meet again, she’s in a wheelchair.
