Sun, desire and Luca Guadagnino (“Call Me by Your Name”) make for about as sensual a combination as cinema gets. Tilda Swinton plays a rock star and Ralph Fiennes her unbearable ex, and when they meet on an Italian island, the temperature quickly climbs to boiling point.
A famous rock star is on holiday with her partner on Pantelleria, an idyllic Italian island, while she recovers from surgery on her vocal cords and isn’t allowed to speak. Their peace is shattered when her loud, irritating ex-lover turns up out of the blue with his daughter, and the new arrivals stir up a whirl of jealousy and passion with no telling where it will end. Whatever happens now, she can’t say a word.
