The man on the phone says he’s a police officer, so the manager of a fast-food restaurant searches a teenage employee on his orders, then keeps obeying as each demand grows more humiliating. The call really happened, and not just once: it was made more than seventy times in thirty US states.
A shift manager at a fast-food restaurant picks up the phone to a man who says he’s a police officer and that one of her staff has stolen money from a customer’s purse. The description fits nineteen-year-old Becky, who denies everything, so he tells the manager to search her, and she obeys. But that isn’t enough, and each order that follows is stranger, more threatening and more humiliating than the last.
