Matthias Schoenaerts (“Rust and Bone”) remade his own body for the lead in an Oscar-nominated portrait of a brutal, radical man you end up sympathising with despite yourself. It’s told from so close to him that you soon lose any safe distance.
Jacky, thirty, works on his uncle’s cattle farm in the Belgian countryside, where a vet talks him into a shady deal in illegal hormones and steroids for livestock. Before long he’s caught in the web of the hormone mafia. Things get complicated when a policeman is killed nearby and Jacky’s dark past begins to surface.
