Why we chose it

Austria’s Oscar submission, remade in America in 2022 with Naomi Watts, is a horror about twin boys whose mother comes home after surgery on her face. She keeps the bandages on and lays down strict new rules, and the boys grow certain that this woman isn’t their mother.

Synopsis

At the height of summer, in a lonely house in the Austrian countryside, the twins Elias and Lukas are waiting for their mother to come home. When she does, her face is wrapped in bandages from surgery, and almost nothing about her is the way it used to be. So what is hiding under the bandages?
