Why we chose it

David Cronenberg takes aim at Hollywood in a merciless satire, with Julianne Moore, John Cusack and Robert Pattinson among a cast full of stars. The Weiss family is haunted by fame and by the ghosts of its past, in a town where the maps to the stars lead not to heaven but to celebrities’ homes.

Synopsis

Agatha Weiss arrives in Los Angeles from Florida with burn scars and a bag full of pills, and hires a limousine whose driver is a struggling actor. Meanwhile Benjie, a young star, is growing up with his domineering mother, Cristina, and his father, Stafford, a therapist to the stars. Stafford’s most important patient is Havana Segrand, an actress fighting for the role her late mother once played.
