Kitty Green wrote the script after months of conversations with assistants in the film industry, including one who worked for Harvey Weinstein, and like the monster in a horror film, the boss is never once seen. One of the strongest films of the #MeToo movement, it is also one of the quietest.

Synopsis

At a New York film company, Jane is the first one in, before dawn, and she sits at the very bottom of the assistants’ pecking order. Over a single working day, the calls she answers and the rooms she cleans add up to a disturbing picture. When a new assistant arrives, very young, inexperienced and put up in a hotel at the company’s expense, Jane heads to HR.
