At home they hunt deer, but in Vietnam they hold a revolver to their own heads. Michael Cimino’s film about the trauma of war, with Robert De Niro and Christopher Walken, won five Oscars, and before the devastating game of Russian roulette begins, it gives you time to love these men.
In a Pennsylvania steel town, three friends come off their shift and go straight to a wedding. Steven is getting married, and in a few days all three are leaving for Vietnam; that same night Nick and Linda get engaged. At dawn they head up into the mountains to hunt deer, where it turns out Mike will never take more than one shot. And the war begins right after the wedding.
