Waltz with Bashir

Why we chose it

It begins when a friend’s recurring dream of being chased by a pack of dogs makes Ari Folman realise he remembers nothing of the war they both fought. His animated documentary about that lost memory won a Golden Globe and a César and was nominated for an Oscar. Nobody else has drawn war like this.

Synopsis

Late one night in a bar, Ari, a film director, listens as a friend describes a dream that comes back every night, in which a pack of twenty-six dogs hunts him down. The two men conclude it must be connected to their army service in Lebanon in the early 1980s, and that’s when Ari realises he has no memory of that war. Not a single thing.
