Why we chose it

Lana and Lilly Wachowski (“The Matrix”) and Tom Tykwer (“Run Lola Run”) filmed six stories at once, spread over five hundred years, that only slowly reveal how they fit together. Tom Hanks, Halle Berry and Jim Broadbent keep coming back as new characters, at times so changed you won’t know them.

Synopsis

An American lawyer on the Pacific in 1849 finds a stowaway aboard his ship, and in Scotland in 1936 a young composer takes a job writing down the music of a famous older colleague. In San Francisco in 1973 a journalist is tipped off that something is wrong with a nuclear reactor, while in Neo Seoul in 2144 a fast-food clone watches a forbidden film. Each of them, in turn, comes across the story of the one who came before.
