Why we chose it
Tom Schilling (“A Coffee in Berlin”) plays a young man who makes the most of being able to be anyone he likes online, in a cyberthriller about a hacker group that’s full of unexpected twists. Baran bo Odar directed and Jantje Friese wrote the script, and three years later the pair created “Dark”.
Synopsis
Benjamin, who lives in Berlin, has never known how to fit in with other people. He hacks into the university system to steal exam questions for Marie, the girl he loves, gets caught and is sentenced to community service, where he meets Max, his complete opposite. With a few others they set up a hacker group called CLAY and pull harmless stunts, all to get noticed by a hacker none of them has ever seen.
