Joanna Kulig and Tomasz Kot are two people who can neither live together nor leave each other alone, in a post-war Europe shot in black and white. The melodrama won Paweł Pawlikowski (“Ida”) Best Director at Cannes, earned three Oscar nominations and took the whole world by storm.
Zula and Wiktor meet among the ruins of post-war Poland and fall into a love that neither of them can escape. Over the years of the Cold War it pulls them through Poland, France, Germany and Yugoslavia, while politics, their own failings and a run of bad luck keep tearing them apart, only to bring them back together.
