Why we chose it

Dev Patel, Nicole Kidman and Rooney Mara star in a film that earned six Oscar nominations, Best Picture among them. As a small boy, Saroo Brierley lands in Tasmania remembering an Indian railway station he can’t name, and years later he hunts for it on satellite images, one track at a time.

Synopsis

In Khandwa, India, in 1986, five-year-old Saroo goes to the station with his older brother, falls asleep on a bench and wakes up alone on a moving train. Several days later he gets off in Calcutta, where nobody speaks his language, and spends two months on the streets before he ends up in an orphanage. Then a couple from Tasmania, on the other side of the world, adopt him.
