Why we chose it
Leslye Headland (“Russian Doll”) wrote and directed this frank romantic comedy, which brings “When Harry Met Sally...” into the present day. Alison Brie and Jason Sudeikis play two people who start out in bed and only later become friends, and now neither wants sex to ruin it.
Synopsis
One night in New York in 2002, Lainey sneaks into a Columbia dorm, determined to lose her virginity to a teaching assistant. She doesn’t find him, but she does find Jake, and the night they spend together turns out to be a first time for both of them. Twelve years later they run into each other at a meeting for sex and love addicts, agree not to let sex spoil their platonic friendship and pick a safe word for the harder moments.
