Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell star in a much-loved romantic classic that still works, years on, as a comedy, an affirmation of life and a lesson in mindfulness. A grumpy, sarcastic TV weatherman is stuck living the same day over and over. Don’t save it for the second of February.
TV weatherman Phil Connors has come from Pittsburgh to Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, to cover the annual Groundhog Day festivities, and he despises all of it: the town, the festival, the crowds, even the cute animal. To top it off, a blizzard buries the roads and forces him to stay the night. When he wakes up, the radio is playing the same song as yesterday. It’s Groundhog Day again.
