Why we chose it

Maïwenn directed and acts in this Cannes Jury Prize winner about a Paris child protection unit, whose officers spend their mornings facing the worst that can happen to a child and their lunch breaks laughing out loud. The title is how her son once spelled the word police.

Synopsis

Days are long in the Paris child protection unit. In a single shift the officers hear out a girl who is being abused at home, arrest a man who preys on children and take a baby from a mother living on the street, dealing with whatever comes through the door. At night they go home, where what they’ve been through is as hard to talk about as it is to hear. Then a photographer joins the team, sent to document their work.
