Jean-Pierre Améris, who has struggled with the same problem himself, drew on the Emotions Anonymous meetings he went to for this charming romance between two painfully shy chocolate lovers. Be warned: it melts hearts the way the sun melts chocolate.
Angélique makes the best chocolates for miles around, though her employer sells them under the name of a hermit who lives up in the mountains. When he dies, she ends up at a struggling chocolate factory whose owner, Jean-René, is so frightened of people that he hires her as a sales rep by mistake. The trouble is, she’s every bit as frightened of them as he is. Then Jean-René asks her to dinner.
