Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence dance through a crooked story of love and mental illness that David O. Russell wrote with his bipolar son in mind. It’s a fast, loud, tender comedy about people who never stop talking. Four of its cast were nominated for Oscars, and Lawrence won.
After eight months in a psychiatric hospital, Pat moves back in with his parents, convinced he can win his wife back, even though a court has ordered him to stay away from her. At dinner with friends he meets Tiffany, a recent widow, and the two of them strike a deal. She’ll get his letter to his wife, but only if he partners her in a dance competition.
