Why we chose it

It opened in five cinemas, lost money, and only became a phenomenon once it found its audience on VHS and DVD. Willem Dafoe plays an FBI agent who enjoys his work, on the trail of two Irish brothers in Boston who are convinced God wants them to kill gangsters. They’re very good at it.

Synopsis

On St Patrick’s Day in Boston, Connor and Murphy MacManus, brothers of Irish descent, go to Mass in the morning and to the pub at night. When Russian gangsters turn up and order everyone out, the brawl ends badly for the Russians, and two of them come back the next day to settle the score, only to die in the attempt. Locked in a cell, the MacManus brothers hear a voice and decide that God has chosen them.
