British cinema of the future is introduced to us with this daring debut from a major directorial talent with influences from Neil Jordan and Andrea Arnold. A stunning performance from newcomer, Stranger Things' Joseph Quinn and a sense of magic that refuses to leave your skin.

Synopsis

10-year-old Maria lives with her mum in London in 1984, in a house full of rubbish and love. Despite the obsession that defines her life, Cynthia is devoted to her daughter, collecting useless objects to give to her in a sign of total devotion. Until one day Maria is violently uprooted from her dreamy childhood trash heap, only to be delivered into the hands of a loving foster mother and a more normal adulthood. But when an old acquaintance from the past appears, the hidden wounds resurface. Translated with DeepL.com (free version)

η προβληματική μητρότητα , το αθεράπευτο τραύμα , ο έρωτας που πλαισιώνει, αριστουργηματικά δεμένα με εκπληκτικές ερμηνείες. Είχα καιρό να δω τέτοιο σινεμά
