Nicolas Bedos (“La Belle Époque”) and Doria Tillier were a couple when they wrote the script together, and they play husband and wife across forty-five years of marriage, from 1971 to 2016. It starts out as a French comedy, but it doesn’t take long to turn cruel.
It’s 1971, and Sarah is finishing a doctorate in classics when she falls for Victor, a writer no publisher wants, and only afterwards for his writing. The next forty-five years bring affairs, money, a son, a divorce and a way back to each other. Victor becomes famous, and through every book he writes, Sarah is right there beside him.
