Why we chose it

Mads Mikkelsen stars in Susanne Bier’s Oscar-nominated film about a wedding that leaves nothing the way it was, and a wealthy donor who is after something other than money. The secrets come out one by one, until not even the appearance of normal life is left standing.

Synopsis

Jacob has spent years running an orphanage in India, and the money is just running out when a Danish businessman comes forward as a donor. There’s one condition: he wants to hear the appeal in person, in Copenhagen. Jacob flies over, but before anything is decided he’s invited to his host’s daughter’s wedding, where he recognises the bride’s mother.
