For thirty years Giuseppe Tornatore worked with one composer, Ennio Morricone, and now it’s Morricone who sits in front of the camera and talks. Quincy Jones, Bruce Springsteen, Quentin Tarantino and others all end up saying much the same thing: a perfectionist and a genius.
In Rome just after the war, a boy plays trumpet in café bands and passes the hat round American soldiers so that he can eat. He studies composition under Goffredo Petrassi, finds work in the movies and becomes famous for the music he writes for westerns. The boy is Ennio Morricone, the legendary composer behind hundreds of scores.
