When their husbands ship out to Afghanistan, the women left behind on an army base start to sing, and for one hour a week in the choir they finally stop waiting. Kristin Scott Thomas leads this comedy drama, inspired by the real Military Wives Choirs on dozens of British bases around the world.
With the regiment’s men gone to Afghanistan, a British army base is almost deserted, and one of the women left behind suggests starting a choir, mostly to fill the empty months. The first rehearsal brings together the wives of soldiers of every rank and background, most of whom have never spoken to one another before. Singing together soon means a great deal to them, and before long the choir is offered a chance to perform in public.
