When a little while ago it was heard that Yorgos Lanthimos will make a film adaptation of Jim Thompson's book, Pop. 1280, many remembered the first time this had happened, in an explosive adaptation with an unforgettable performance by Philippe Noiret in the lead role.

Synopsis

1938, in French West Africa. Lucien Cordier is the only policeman in a small colonial town in Senegal. Unable or unwilling to impose his authority on the villains and frustrated by all, he becomes the object of mockery and derision for his cowardice and weakness. When his superior officer mocks him for his mediocrity, he decides to take action and gradually turns into a ruthless killer.
