The Cabin in the Woods

Why does a horror film always rely on basements, darkness and creepy forests? And why do the heroes not just turn right back and go home when they see these? A brilliant contemplation on the cinema/audience relationship, a meta-horror flick that gives other horror movies a run for their money.
Synopsis
Five college friends decide to spend a weekend at a log cabin in the woods. Two old men, who clearly know more about this particular cabin, advise them to turn back. Naturally, their words are not heeded and, that very night, the nightmare is afoot.
