Two Palestinian and two Israeli filmmakers spent five years shooting in Masafer Yatta, a village that is vanishing one house at a time, and their devastating documentary won an Oscar yet still hasn’t found a US distributor. The man filming it has nowhere else to go.
The army has declared the hills of Masafer Yatta, in the occupied West Bank, a training zone and has started demolishing the villages that stand on them. Basel Adra, who was born here, films every bulldozer, and the Israeli journalist Yuval Abraham is there to help him. The difference is that at the end of the day, the journalist can simply go home.
