Why we chose it

Hallucinatory, surreal yet Hitchcockian in its basis, the film of the unique Alejandro Jodorowsky stands right next to the cult masterpieces he gave in the 70s (El Topo, Holy Mountain), with a set of dreamlike images building a different approach to the thriller genre.

Synopsis

A young man, Fenix, is locked up in a mental institution. With a flashback we follow the reason that led him to his current situation, as he saw his father, a circus performer, kill himself after first cutting off the hands of his religious wife, who was the leader of the Santa Sangre sect. Fenix manages to escape and reunites with his mother, becomes her "hands" and begins a bloody cycle of revenge and murder.
