Two years after “La Haine”, Mathieu Kassovitz cast Michel Serrault as an old-school hitman and played his apprentice himself, in a film where blood pours nonstop from a television nobody switches off. Killing is a trade that nobody here enjoys, and Kassovitz makes no compromises.
Wagner has spent his whole life killing for hire, and before he quits he wants to pass the trade on. He chooses Max, a young man with a record and no idea what to do with his future, and oversees his first hit in person. Max moves in with him and starts learning how to handle a gun, the unwritten rules of the job and good manners.
