Winner of the best debut award at Venice, this is a sharp look at a society split in two. Behind the walls of a gated community in Mexico City, residents run a state within a state, with their own guards, their own rules and, as it turns out, their own justice.
When a storm brings down part of the wall around a gated community in Mexico City, three teenagers from outside slip in through the gap. Within an hour four people are dead: a woman who lives there, two of the boys and a guard shot by mistake. The third boy, Miguel, is still somewhere inside the walls, and at an emergency meeting the residents agree that the police must never find out.
