Why we chose it

Two people have a claim to the same house: he wants to fix it up and sell it, while she just wants to live in it. Vadim Perelman’s debut earned Academy Award nominations for Ben Kingsley (“Gandhi”) and Shohreh Aghdashloo. Each of them is in the right, and right can’t be split in half.

Synopsis

Before he had to leave his country, Massoud Behrani was a colonel in the Iranian army. Now he buys a small house by the ocean in Northern California for a fraction of its value and sets about renovating it to sell at a profit. It used to be Kathy’s home, until the county evicted her over taxes she supposedly owed, and one day Kathy knocks on the door.
