Father Mother Sister Brother
- Jim Jarmusch
- 2025
- 1h 50m
- Comedy, Drama
Jarmusch brings together an impressive cast (Cate Blanchett, Adam Driver, Tom Waits, Charlotte Rampling) and tells three self-contained stories about the relationships between parents and children, infused with his iconic underground humor and produced by Saint Laurent. He doesn’t judge; he simply observes. A work of maturity and rare balance, winner of the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival.
Synopsis
Father Mother Sister Brother is a feature film, though carefully constructed in the form of a triptych. The three stories all concern the relationships between adult children, their somewhat distant parents, and each other. Each of the three chapters takes place in the present, and each in a different country: Northeast US, Ireland, and France. The film is a series of character studies, quiet, observational and non-judgmental – a comedy, but interwoven with threads of melancholy.
