Why we chose it
No series had ever filmed as far north as this one, deep in the Arctic, where Andrew Haigh (“All of Us Strangers”) sends Jack O’Connell aboard a whaler as its disgraced doctor, with Colin Farrell hunting from the same deck. Nobody on that ship is going to come out of the voyage well.
Synopsis
In Hull in 1859, Patrick Sumner, an army surgeon dismissed in disgrace, signs on as doctor aboard a whaler heading for the Arctic ice. Among the crew is the harpooner Henry Drax, a man with no conscience at all. The captain, meanwhile, is carrying orders that nobody else on board knows about.
