A prison riot turns a guard into one of the inmates, and everything hangs on whether the convicts’ leader believes his story. Daniel Monzón’s film spins further out of control by the minute, exactly as a strong thriller should, and it won eight Goya Awards for it.
The day before his first shift, Juan Oliver drops by the prison to see where he’ll be working. During the tour a chunk of plaster falls from the ceiling and knocks him out just as a riot erupts, and the guards leave him in the only empty cell and run. He wakes without his uniform or ID in a prison that now belongs to the inmates, and tells them he’s just been locked up for murder.
