Why we chose it

Kathryn Bigelow tells the hunt for bin Laden with a cool head, not down the barrel of a rifle but from behind a CIA analyst’s desk, and builds the whole story around that one woman. Jessica Chastain won a Golden Globe for playing her, and the row over the film still hasn’t died down.

Synopsis

In 2003, at the US embassy in Pakistan, Maya, a young CIA analyst, watches the interrogations of a prisoner known as Ammar, who gives up the name of a courier carrying messages for bin Laden. Six years later the search is still dragging on. Then Maya loses her closest colleague in the attack on Camp Chapman in Afghanistan.
