A Gentle Creature

Documentary veteran Sergey Loznitsa, also manages to create shockingly realistic worlds in his fiction films, even when inspired by literature, as here with Fyodor Dostoevsky’s titular short story.

Synopsis

A woman lives alone in a small Russian village. One day she receives a package she had sent to her imprisoned husband, labeled "return to sender." Puzzled and angry, she seeks out the reason of its return and embarks on a difficult journey to the prison, in order to solve the mystery.
