Synopsis

After the car accident that nearly took his life, the last thing John Callahan (Joaquin Phoenix) wants to do is quit drinking. When he reluctantly begins treatment - with the encouragement of his girlfriend (Rooney Mara) and charismatic supporter (Jonah Hill) - Callahan discovers a new talent: drawing bold, irreverent cartoons for newspapers that eventually become popular across the country and give him a new zest for life.
