The director and the star of "Sunset Boulevard", the hands-down best movie ever made about Hollywood and its myths, return to familiar ground, this time on the Greek island of Corfu, with more feeling and definitely less cynicism.
Synopsis
A once-famous actress kills herself. Devastated, a Hollywood producer attends her funeral, wondering if he is partially accountable for her death. Two weeks earlier, he had traveled to Corfu to see her; there she lived isolated in a luxurious mansion, with a countess, a doctor and his assistant. The producer tried to convince her to play Anna Karenina in a new film adaptation, as financial backing was dependent upon her participation. Her doctor, however, insisted that she should not do it.
