In his stunning debut, which established him as a unique voice in contemporary cinema, Carlos Reygadas explores the inseparable unity of nature, religion, body, and soul, through an existential journey into uncharted cinematic genres and hauntingly beautiful images.

Synopsis

A cynical and disillusioned man travels from Mexico City to a remote canyon to commit suicide. There he meets a devout elderly widow and stays in her crumbling house. Although they exchange only a few words, her humanity reignites his desire to live.
