Ken Loach's most feel-good and poised film of the 21st century boasts a brilliant script, which charmingly combines the inadequacy of social structures with the palate of malt whiskeys. Cheers!
Synopsis
A penniless and kindhearted new father holds his newborn son for the first time; he is determined that the boy will have a better life than his, but first he must sort out a variety of problems. He’s in trouble with the law. His girlfriend's family wants to run him out of town and a thug is after him. He’s given a lucky break by a merciful judge, who grants him community service instead of jail. There, he meets a bunch of petty criminals down on their luck and together they hatch a plan.
