Synopsis
The tragic story of a peasant woman forced to marry a much older, wealthy farmer despite her love for his son. In time, Jagna becomes the object of envy and hatred of the villagers and must fight to maintain her independence. Set in the Polish countryside on the border of the 19th and 20th centuries, the story's dramatic transformation is linked to the changing seasons, hard work in the fields and traditional local customs.
