Richard Curtis sends Philip Seymour Hoffman and Bill Nighy to sea on a ship beaming rock into Britain from outside territorial waters, because until 1967 the BBC could play only five hours of music a day. Every DJ on the old tub is sure he’s the one people are tuning in for.

Synopsis

The BBC won’t put rock on the air in mid-1960s Britain, so the country turns to the pirate stations instead. The most popular of them all broadcasts from a ship anchored in the North Sea, out of reach of British law. Now the government has made up its mind to silence the DJs on board.
