Sofia Coppola (“Lost in Translation”) made her debut adapting Jeffrey Eugenides’s book, with a sixteen-year-old Kirsten Dunst and music by Air. Five sisters live in 1970s suburbia, and the local boys who watch them understand nothing, though they’ll remember those girls for the rest of their lives.
The five Lisbon sisters of 1970s suburban Detroit are beautiful and dreamy, and they hardly ever leave the house. After the youngest ends up in hospital, their parents close the doors for good, and the neighbourhood boys start collecting everything the girls throw out, though none of them can make sense of what goes on inside.
