Why we chose it

In March 1984 the real Guðlaugur Friðþórsson spent six hours in the freezing Atlantic and survived, and scientists went on to call him the human seal. Baltasar Kormákur stays faithful to his extreme story of survival, and to a world that badly needed it explained.

Synopsis

In March 1984, in the waters off the south coast of Iceland, Gulli heads out with four friends on a small fishing boat. The catch is poor, and when the net snags on the seabed the boat capsizes so fast that nobody has time to send a signal. A few of the men scramble onto the hull, but the sea takes them one by one. Peering into the darkness, Gulli spots a light on the island and starts to swim towards it.
