Ryan Gosling, George Clooney, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Paul Giamatti put loyalty to the test in a presidential campaign, in a film named after the day that has always meant political betrayal. Its screenplay, adapted from a play by “House of Cards” writer Beau Willimon, was nominated for an Oscar.
It’s a few days before the Ohio primary, and Stephen Meyers, second in command on Governor Mike Morris’s campaign, truly believes in his candidate. That’s when the head of the rival campaign phones him with a job offer. Meanwhile, inside his own camp, Stephen begins an affair with Molly Stearns, an intern.
