Takashi Miike’s landmark film is a nightmarish revenge fable that inspired some of the most notorious torture-horror franchises worldwide (Saw, Hostel), and remains unforgettable for its shocking finale. A gem of Asian extremity, it is counted among Quentin Tarantino’s favorite films.

Synopsis

A 42-year-old widower, ready to rebuild his life, organizes a fake audition to find the woman he longs for. When he meets Yamazaki - a mysterious and strikingly beautiful 24-year-old - desire soon turns into obsession, and the story descends into a chilling psychological nightmare.
